There are probably worse things to get phone calls about.

However ones from the police station which involve words such as "child" and "car accident" are pretty bad. Especially when the child involved your fifteen year old ward.

Which is exactly the sort of phone call Andrew got on Saturday evening.

"Really? Because I see no evidence to the contrary. And now the car is destroyed."

Andrew is probably giving Alec a more thorough talking to than the police did, in all truth.

He is.

Which is expected from the guardian.

"I... ah..." Alec's really got no good response to that.

"What do you intend to do about it? And I think you owe me an incredibly eloquent and groveling apology."

"Here?"

"Yes, here. The police should be aware that you're not generally as much of a juvenile delinquent as you're presenting yourself as."

He folds his arms, clearly waiting.

Alec looks around, still utterly horrified at what Andrew's telling him to do. The fact that the police appear to be enjoying the show doesn't help matters.

"I... I..."

"I guarantee you, you will never set foot behind the wheel of a car again if you don't do as I say."

There will be no argument, no slipping out of this. This is the consequence one receives when one manages to ruin a car and get hauled in by the police.

"I..." He licks his lips nervously. "I'm sorry. It was incredibly stupid of me and um... I should have thought about what I was doing and realized that doing such a thing was not what I should have done."

It's not very eloquent, and Alec's stuttering a bit, which shows how nervous he is.

"I won't do it again and and... I'll work it off and um.. I ... please... I'm sorry..."

"Fine," Andrew said, sighing. "Then let's go home. Thank you, officers."

He nodded brusquely at them.

They smile and laugh a bit as Alec slinks after Andrew like a puppy with his tail tucked.

"Needless to say, you'll never do that again," Andrew said, as he got into the car.

"No, sir," he mumbles, getting into the car as well. "Sorry, sir."

"Now, tell me the truth," he said, starting the car, "Was it really about a girl?"

"Yes... well... yes." He's not looking at Andrew. Instead he's watching traffic.

"I have all night, Alec, so I urge you to be as explanatory as possible."

"We were talking... like I said. And I don't know how it got around to cars. But it did. And I mentioned the car you had. And she wanted to see it. I didn't think there was anything wrong with that."

He gives a nervous shrugging gesture.

"There was something wrong with not asking before using my property. There was something wrong with driving so poorly that you smashed it to pieces. How did you even manage to drive it that poorly?"

Alec mumbles something.

It sounds like 'she kissed me'.

Andrew sighs, trying to keep the slight smirk off of his face. "I see. In the future, perhaps, you'll be more prepared for that type of eventuality, and won't drive off the road when faced with feminine wiles."

"She's a girl! Why would she kiss me!?"

Which possibly makes sense in Alec's mind. His general lack of interest in girls has placed them still slightly above the cootie stage. Or at least if he's not interested in them, then they shouldn't be interest in him, right? Along that train of thought he never thought of himself as anyone who girls would be attracted to.

"I assume she found herself, for some inexplicable reason, attracted to you. Or to my car."

Andrew was mean enough to imply that it was probably the car.

"Probably," he agrees morosely.

"So... I showed her the car and she wanted to see what it was like inside of it and... it seemed like a good idea at the time..."

"Alec, I have a hint for you, regarding future decisions. If you ever even suspect that you may end an experience telling me that something seemed like a good idea at the time, don't do it in the first place."

"I'll... try to remember that one sir."

He sighs a bit. "I didn't think I was stealing the car. I was going to bring it back."

He shakes his head as they get closer to the apartment. "Alec, do you even have a license?"
