There are probably worse things to get phone calls about.
However ones from the police station which involve words such as "child" and "car accident" are pretty bad. Especially when the child involved your fifteen year old ward.
Which is exactly the sort of phone call Andrew got on Saturday evening.

"I don't think you being in the car would help impress anyone. Sir."
no subject
He parks the car in front of the apartment and gets out, still talking. "On the other hand, I would have had little to no interest seeing you attempt to impress a girl, so no, I wouldn't have come along. And then you wouldn't have had the car."
no subject
You may impress adults Andrew, but we're discussing teenagers now. And no one cool has their dad -acknowledged or not - around.
no subject
At this point, he's simply messing with you, Alec. But it's so amusing to irritate teenagers.

"Are you going to show me how to drive so I don't crash into things and ruin your cars?"
no subject
He unlocks the door to the apartment and ushers Alec in.
no subject
"So you're going to trust them to teach me?"
no subject
Andrew doesn't trust anyone, of course, but he knows Alec is trying to manipulate him, and he doesn't care for it.

Thinking about his wording as he lights up a cigarette, because he doesn't want to get himself completely banned from ever driving again until he's thirty, Alec carefully says, "Well, sir. I don't know how well something like driving a car can be taught in a group setting."
Also, damnit he wants Andrew to teach him.
no subject
"I'll teach you," he eventually says brusquely.
no subject
"And yes, I know. Nothing until I pay back the car, right?"
no subject
Of course he'd charge interest on the car payments. Of course.
no subject
"How much interest?"
no subject
Yes, Andrew's put some thought into this.
no subject
Which is entirely the point.
"5% at what time period? A day? A week? A month?"
no subject
And Andrew's going to make some money. Delightful.
no subject
Fuck.
Right.
He runs his hand through his hair. Fortunately not the one with the lit cigarette in it. "Yes. Of course." Alec isn't fighting this one too much because well, yeah, he fucked up.
There might be some mention about how he's making money by taking advantage of a teenager - his son even - except that this is Andrew and said teenager has done it enough times to him in the past.
no subject
He takes a lazy drag on his cigarette, clearly in his element when making Alec uncomfortable.

"............."
Honestly what exactly is he supposed to say to that one? It's not like he can say he needs it for rent and food because he's living with Andrew. Most of it is just money he uses for himself and socking it away for Just In Case.
It'll knock out most of his fun money, that's for sure because he doesn't think Andrew will let him get away with extorting money for little jobs either. At least not until the car is finished.
no subject
Yes, he's going to get all the household chores out of you, Alec.
no subject
Then, "I want this down in paper so I know how much you're taking out. And how much I'm supposedly earning to go to the car payments."
Oh, does he know it.
