There are probably worse things to get phone calls about.
However ones from the police station which involve words such as "child" and "car accident" are pretty bad. Especially when the child involved your fifteen year old ward.
Which is exactly the sort of phone call Andrew got on Saturday evening.

Yes, he's going to get all the household chores out of you, Alec.

Then, "I want this down in paper so I know how much you're taking out. And how much I'm supposedly earning to go to the car payments."
Oh, does he know it.

Or something.
He puts the briefcase on the kitchen table and then makes a beeline for the fridge in search of food.
"D'you want anything?"

As he says this Alec pulls out the fixings for sandwiches and makes two of them, completely ignoring what the man says.
The second sandwich he puts in front of Andrew. Then he gets Andrew something to drink.

Alec's nagged him a bit about this whole eating thing as he's gotten older and noticed the lack of eating.
"I don't think I could bribe you."
no subject
"Well. Thank you."

Alec sits across from him and gives a similar shrug. "You're welcome."
Then. "I want a list of the things you want me to do and how much you'd pay me for them. I have a feeling that my usual list of chores is going to be expanded."

Absently he rubs his arm as he notices it hurting. The adrenaline from the crash, the cops, the groveling is finally wearing out and his body his complaining now.
"I can't do everything, you know."

There's more arm rubbing before he works on his sandwich some more.

He looks Alec up and down, and then sighs. "You should get some rest. Take a warm shower. It will help your arm."

Then he glares at Andrew. "My arm's fine."

And now he won't try to display any concern, Alec. Because you rejected his awkward attempt!

"It just hurts a little. It's nothing."
no subject
Yes, because that's so likely to happen with a slight injury. His hyperbole knows no bounds.

"I don't believe there's anything to take care of, sir." Never mind the fact that he's starting to ache a lot all over.

"Fine."

As he gathers his briefcase in one hand and his sandwich in the other -- he'll finish it on the way to bed -- he pauses for a moment, then turns to Alec, clears his throat, then finally speaks.
"I'm glad you're not injured."
And promptly exits the room before Alec can say anything about it.
