It was a small article on page three of the paper, halfway down. Nothing much was said in it really beyond the fact that a young heir of a well to do family (Alexander, the article called him) had gone missing a few days before a wedding and a talk of scandal, as they do. There was even a tiny hint of suggestion that he'd run off with another girl as well as a picture. He was wearing a rather nice hat.

Alec didn't know about the article's existence. He didn't bother reading the papers. Reading happened to other people. So, he would be perfectly oblivious to such things being brought up to him as he swept the floor, humming to himself.
