Passages Inn OTA

 photo Passagesprofilepic.jpg

There are Inns out there that exist between worlds and dimensions. They show up just when you need a place to stay, your car having stalled out a mile away or the unexpected rainstorm suddenly starts dropping torrents of water. Or sometimes you’re wandering around the streets in a city and need a place to stay and you spot the door to this Inn which looks friendly and inviting. Going in, things are just a bit off. The patrons are perhaps not quite human; the man behind the desk smiles a bit oddly. However he tells you that you’re in luck. There’s just one room left and you can have it.

But, when you leave the next morning and turn around to see what it’s called, the inn is gone. When you ask people about it, they look at you funny as if they have no idea what you’re talking about. There was never an inn there, they tell you.

And yet you may still have the key in your pocket, the leftover from dinner, a note from a girl you spoke to, just some little token that says well, maybe you’re not completely crazy.

The Passages Inn is one of those Inns.

Built in the middle of an interdimensional nexus it can reach any time or place or space. You just need to find the door and you can come in. If you’re lucky you can find the door again.

Just remember, first Tuesdays are Viking Night and second Thursdays are Poetry Slam.

The proprietor of the Inn is Alec Troven [personal profile] element_wizard All questions and concerns may be addressed to him.

The Inn was a very pleasant place to visit, Matt had found. While the man behind the desk could give him a chill down his spine every time, the other patrons were generally welcoming and he enjoyed how casual the atmosphere was.

The dart board had caught his attention almost immediately and with his hidden talent, he was able to hit the bullseye almost every time. He hustled any newcomers every time.

Not quite swaggering, Rory sauntered over to the dartboard and watched Matt play for a while. After a bit, holding a glass of coke today and not something else, he wandered over to the man.

"Not bad," he said lightly, when Matt finished up a game.

Matt turned with his usual cocky smile. "Thanks. Fancy a game?" He had time to wipe the floor with one more person before heading home. Or what classed as home for himself.

Rory grinned. A wide toothy grin. Oh, this will be fun. Rory's not had a chance to wipe the floor with anyone in a while. Flicking a glance at the innkeeper to see if he was paying attention - as he was currently flirting with a blond man - he'd say no. Sometimes if the guy was paying attention he rigged the games.

"Sure. I'll play you," he said, downing the rest of his coke.

"Rock, paper, scissors for first shoot?" He asked, holding up a hand. It was his usual starting point as he could see what his opponent was going to pick before picking his own and thus win. Just one of his special talents.

"Nah. You can go first," Rory said graciously. He didn't mind going second. His knack let him win most of the time. First or second it didn't matter. So, might as well be nice and let him go first.

"I'm Rory, by the way."

That worked for Matt. "Nice to meet you, Rory. I'm Matt." He'd always preferred the shorter version of his name. Especially with the extra amount of middle names he was given.

Picking up the darts, he turned to his new opponent. "301 rules or around the clock?" He asked.

"301 rules. I like the math," Rory said, another glance at the Innkeeper who'd wandered off with the man. Good.

Absently he rubbed his fingers together, watching Matt.

Matt smiled, twirling the darts in his hand for a moment before throwing the first. "60." He said, as it hit the treble twenty. "120." He grinned, as the second followed suit. "And 180." He turned and winked at Rory. "How's that for maths?"

Getting the darts he rolled them around in his fingers idly for a moment. Then in quick succession he tossed the darts hitting the same spots that Matt did.

"Pretty good, I think," Rory said.
